Basement Finishing

Basement Finishing in Westfield and Western Massachusetts

A finished basement is the cheapest square footage you will ever add, because the foundation, roof and walls already exist. The catch in New England is moisture, headroom and egress. Westfield Builders addresses those first, then builds out a real living space that passes inspection: framing, insulation, electrical, egress windows, flooring and finish work.

Why Choose Us

Why Finish With Westfield Builders

Real Living Space

A finished basement is the cheapest square footage you will ever add, because the shell already exists. No foundation, no roof, no siding.

Moisture Handled First

We deal with water and vapor before framing goes up. Finishing over a damp basement is how you end up tearing it back out.

Insulation and Comfort

Rim joists, walls and slab edges get treated so the finished space is actually comfortable in a Massachusetts winter.

Code and Egress

Bedrooms below grade need egress, and the whole space needs proper smoke and CO detection. We build it to pass inspection.

What a Basement Finish Covers

Moisture assessment, vapor barrier and any needed drainage work
Framing, insulation and drywall
Egress windows and window wells where a bedroom is planned
Electrical, lighting, outlets and smoke and CO detection
HVAC extension, returns and supply for the new space
Full or half bathroom build out
Flooring, trim, doors, paint and built ins

Basements We Take On

Unfinished basements becoming family rooms, offices or gyms
In law and guest suites with a bedroom and bathroom below grade
Homeowners who need square footage without changing the footprint

Rental or accessory space being added to an existing home
Our Process

How a Basement Finish Runs

1

Assessment and Plan

We look at moisture, ceiling height, egress and mechanicals, then tell you what the space can realistically become.

2

Design and Permits

Layout and 3D rendering, then permits. Below grade work is inspected work, especially where bedrooms are involved.

3

Rough In

Any moisture work, then framing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, all inspected before insulation and drywall.

4

Finish and Handover

Drywall, flooring, trim, paint and fixtures, then a walkthrough and punch list before you move in.

Turn That Basement Into Real Space

We will look at your headroom, moisture and egress situation and tell you honestly what your basement can become. Free estimates.
